About Robert
I spent over fifteen years living in Taiwan, during which time, I learned both Mandarin and some of the Taiwanese dialect. I have also taught Mandarin at the high school and university level. As an adult, I went back to school and got my master's degree in Chinese, and also volunteered as a translator (English to Chinese) during that time.
Learning Mandarin has changed my life in many ways. I understand the struggles that students face learning this fascinating language, and I know that students can overcome difficulties as long as they are willing to put in the time and effort to do so.

Mandarin
A typical lesson is structured as follows:
1. Review/assessment of previous content.
2. Introduction of new material to be learned.
3. Practice with pronunciation and usage of new material.
4. Application of new material to a practical situation (such as using the material in a conversation).
5. Review and assignment.
I am very patient, and I am willing to take time to make sure that you learn at your own pace. I am happy to take the time necessary to help you master difficult concepts and skills.
I like to include authentic examples of Chinese even for basic lessons.
These lessons are primarily for beginning and intermediate students. However, students who have specific requests, such as getting help with reading, or for test prep, are welcome to make inquiries as well.
