I don't just teach to make good grades or pass exams, I teach to understand.
My goal is for my students to understand mathematical and scientific concepts so well that they soon become independent and confident in their knowledge.
For example, I will teach my students how to think critically and comprehend statements in order to navigate word problems in mathematics.
Just for them to understand the idea behind leap years, I'll tell stories of the solar system and how long it takes the earth to go round the sun.
Our geography lessons will include learning fun facts about the continents, singing about rivers in Africa, and doing cool projects on ways to recycle wastes to save the planet.
The knowledge I impart to my students is retained long after they've passed exams.
I am little bits of everything. A podcaster, writer, storyteller, teacher, serial volunteer, environmental sustainability enthusiast, education reform activist, student- a student of life. I'm also introverted and lefthanded.
My teaching talents developed as far back as JS2 (2009) when I started teaching my classmates mathematics because apparently, the teacher's methods were too difficult to understand. I kept doing this even after I got into the University to study Geophysics.
In the university, I thought more than just mathematics to my peers, I thought almost all the courses we offered. I had (I still do) this gift of understanding complex ideas and breaking them down into simpler, relatable forms.
I started teaching for a living in 2020 and it's one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had in life.

I have known Toby for 7 years, she's a wonderful tutor. She knows how to break things from first principle, in a way that the the learner becomes so affiliated with the concept or theory in mathematics.
She has a very interesting way of looking at life and it reflects in her teaching method.
Tobechukwu is a qualified mathematics teacher which I'll always endorse anytime, anywhere. She doesn't only teach math, she breaks it into digestible chunks that makes it understandable.
