About Graeme

Hi all! A bit about me: - London Business School MBA alumnus (Dean's List and former Student Ambassador) - GMAT score: 750 - Have been tutoring maths on the side on and off for around 20 years and have been coaching MBA applicants for around 5 years (with successful applicants to Stanford, MIT, Harvard, LBS, etc.)

I also am the founder of GMAT Panda (concealed information) - the world's first AI tutor for GMAT!

About the lesson

I like to adapt my methodology to the student, so I always start with a short diagnostic, along with a discussion to understand the student's objectives. I typically use a hands-on approach where I like to show students various ways of solving a type of question, and why one may choose one method or the other depending on the circumstances. This greatly helps time and exam management on the day! For each session you will receive a set of slides with key points to remember and some GMAT Focus questions to go over together. I also have a range of slides around how to best prepare for the exam (how to prepare a study guide, what to do in the last few days before the exam, etc.)

1) How long have you been teaching GMAT?
Since 2015 (during my MBA), but I've been teaching various maths/physics-based topics for many years before that!
2) What makes the GMAT unique?
It's a tough exam that requires a lot of hard work and discipline, but it's the first and necessary step towards a once in a lifetime experience at an MBA or Graduate Masters.
3) What else do you do outside teaching GMAT?
I'm a part-time career coach and tech entrepreneur.
4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
Listening skills, people skills and patience.
5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject
Some of the tips I give are also useful life skills, particularly for MBA careers: how to sense check a result, how to do what's called a 'dimensional analysis', etc. - skills useful in both consulting and finance.
6) What topic do people tend to struggle with most in the GMAT?
Number properties (primes, divisibility, factors, etc.) - particularly in Data Sufficiency because it's so far from every day maths!
7) What do you like about teaching?
It's a great way to self-improve. It forces you to constantly rethink what you know from someone else's perspective and it's always a fun challenge to find the right way to explain concepts to the student's way of thinking.
8) What makes you a Superprof?
I always adapt the pace, content and methodology to the person I'm tutoring, and I've accumulated hundreds of tips over my many years of teaching GMAT that I love to share with my students.
