About Eibhlin

Hi, I’m Eibhlin! I’m a qualified medical doctor currently working as a Surgical SHO, with a Master’s in Surgery and a degree in Graduate Entry Medicine from the University of Limerick. I entered medicine from a non-science background, so I understand firsthand the challenges of preparing for the GAMSAT. Having successfully navigated the exam and completed medical school, I’m passionate about helping others achieve the same goal. Throughout my medical training and career, I’ve gained extensive clinical, research and teaching experience, including delivering practical surgical skills tutorials to medical students. I’ve also been involved in several research projects, publications and conference presentations. I enjoy teaching and aim to make challenging topics approachable, building students’ confidence through practical strategies, clear explanations and personalised feedback. Hi! I’m Eibhlin, a qualified medical doctor currently working as a Surgical Senior House Officer (SHO), with a Master’s in Surgery and a degree in Graduate Entry Medicine from the University of Limerick. I offer personalised GAMSAT preparation and medical school OSCE tutoring, drawing on my own experience of successfully navigating the GAMSAT, completing graduate-entry medicine, and working in clinical practice. GAMSAT Tutoring Having entered medicine from a non-science background, I understand how challenging and overwhelming the GAMSAT can initially seem. I sat the exam twice and successfully improved my Section 3 score by 15 points, ultimately securing my place in medical school in Ireland. My tutoring focuses on developing effective exam techniques, improving reasoning skills and helping students approach questions with confidence. I offer support across all three sections: * Section 1: Developing critical reasoning, comprehension and interpretation skills, with strategies to approach unfamiliar questions and improve accuracy. * Section 2: Essay planning, structuring arguments, developing ideas and improving written expression. I also offer essay correction with detailed, constructive feedback. * Section 3: Problem-solving techniques, scientific reasoning and strategies for tackling unfamiliar questions, particularly for students without a traditional science background. Having experimented with different resources, study techniques and approaches myself, I can help you identify what works best for your individual learning style. OSCE Tutoring As a practising Surgical SHO, I also offer OSCE preparation for medical students, combining clinical experience with a structured, exam-focused teaching approach. I can help with: * History-taking: Developing structured, efficient approaches to common medical and surgical presentations. * Clinical examinations: Understanding examination sequences, recognising important clinical signs and presenting findings confidently. * Communication skills: Practising patient explanations, consent, counselling and other common communication stations. * Clinical reasoning: Developing differential diagnoses, selecting appropriate investigations and formulating management plans. * Surgical OSCEs: Preparing for acute surgical presentations, perioperative assessments and common surgical conditions. * Mock OSCE stations: Timed practice sessions with personalised feedback, focusing on examination technique, clinical knowledge and communication. My aim is not simply to help you memorise examination checklists, but to develop the clinical understanding and confidence needed to perform well in your OSCEs and future clinical practice. My Teaching Style I believe that effective tutoring should be interactive, supportive and tailored to each student’s individual needs. Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to explain their thought processes so we can identify areas for improvement and develop more effective approaches. For GAMSAT students, this involves working through practice questions, analysing reasoning techniques and developing strategies for tackling unfamiliar material. For OSCE students, sessions involve practising realistic clinical scenarios, structured examinations and communication skills, with immediate feedback and practical advice for improvement. I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence.
