About Winnie

Hello, I’m Winnie and I am a passionate sixth year medical student at the University of Cambridge. I offer excellent teaching for students of any ability up to A-level in Biology, Chemistry, additionally providing guidance for Medical School or Oxbridge applications. My experience: I have 10 years experience tutoring students of a wide range of ages and abilities who have been successful in achieving their educational goals. This includes maths and science content, or BMAT, UCAT, personal statement and mock interview sessions. For 5 years before university, I tutored at a private Kumon tuition centre which extends from basic Maths and English up to degree level standard. Having completed the full maths Kumon course myself, I am confident in sharing my knowledge through high-quality lessons. Why me: I have a wealth of knowledge and maintain a high standard of learning, not only reflected by the success of my students, but by my academic achievements in my educational journey. I take great pride in each of my students and your educational success is a priority for me. Students and parents can trust that I will help with improving knowledge and confidence. As the first person in my family to attend university, I can understand how daunting Medical School applications can be, especially if you do not have much guidance from your school. I did extensive research and preparation for my own applications and successfully received all offers back. You can be confident in me to help you with your applications. As Cambridge's Clinsoc Access Officer, I am especially passionate about helping students from underrepresented backgrounds achieve their goals in attending Oxbridge and/or Medical School.

About the lesson

For GCSE/A-level content: With 10 years of tutoring experience, I know how important it is to figure out how a student learns best. My teaching style is flexible and adaptable, evidenced by the success of my students who range in age and ability. Whether you want to build a solid foundation of topics or refine your understanding with finer details to shine above your peers, your lessons are tailored so that you sit your exams at your full potential. In addition to covering content, we will supplement your learning with extensive use of flashcards and past papers with mark scheme insights. As such, you will enhance your understanding of concepts, and importantly know how to articulate this knowledge effectively in exams to get as many marks as possible. For medical school preparation: I provide extensive advice and feedback for personal statements, BMAT or UCAT questions, ensuring you know useful tips for excelling in medical entrance exams. I provide insightful mock interview sessions, getting you to think about questions that my medical student colleagues and myself were asked ourselves! About lessons: My lessons will be via Microsoft Teams or Zoom, where I will be sharing my iPad screen so that you can clearly see what we are learning about. This is especially helpful when drawing out concepts to help you understand. I am an encouraging and patient tutor who will ease any doubts you have in your confidence or studies, and will make sure you finish each lesson feeling like you have done some productive, valuable work. Students are also welcome to contact me outside of lessons through WhatsApp whenever needed for any extra help :)
