About Amanda
I am a British Sign Language tutor, a mother of three, and I specialise in teaching children aged 6 and above, as well as young people and adults, through engaging, accessible and learner-centred lessons. I am currently completing my BSL Level 3 qualification and have a strong foundation in British Sign Language vocabulary, grammar, linguistics and Deaf awareness.
Alongside my BSL training, I bring over seven years of experience as a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher, teaching learners from nursery age through to adults, in both group and one-to-one settings. This has given me a strong grounding in lesson planning, differentiation, classroom management, and adapting teaching styles to suit different ages, learning needs and cultural backgrounds.

My methodology includes:
Multi-sensory and visual learning strategies. Use of games, stories, role-play, conversation and repetition
Scaffolding language from simple signs to full phrases and sentences
Creating a safe, encouraging environment where mistakes are welcomed
