About Alex
I studied violin performance at music conservatoire and found that the bit I enjoyed the most was teaching, which I started doing at the age of 16. I later retrained as a primary school teacher which I find extremely rewarding.
I love to break down ideas into small manageable chunks so that students can not only understand the question, but also enjoy the process of learning too.

I’m a fully qualified primary school teacher specialising in creating engaging lessons for primary age children who have learning difficulties. I have 10+ years teaching and tutoring experience and can adapt lessons to support and challenge your child to achieve their full potential.
I have a thorough knowledge of the national curriculum and what is expected at each stage of primary school. I have lots of experience working with children who have neurodiversity such as ADHD and Autism. I personalise learning to suit the needs of the students and keep them engaged with tricky topics. I can also provide personalised sessions for children aiming to work above and beyond the work they are doing in the classroom.
I prepare learners for Reading, Spelling & Grammar, Arithmetic and Maths reasoning Year 6 or Year 2 SATS.
I’m also trained in Phonics and have experience teaching across subjects in KS1 and KS2.

A typical lesson structure would be:
- Warm up activity
- Discuss any issues with learning
- Review homework
- I teach a new skill / approach a new type of question
- We try out the skill together
- Student practises the skill
- We review the lesson and I explain the homework
- Finish with a warm down / reward activity
