About Owen
I am currently completing my MA in Education at the University of Dundee. As well as assessed placements that I am enjoying I also have modules in child psychology. I am learning how to really hone my craft as a teacher. I also have lessons in Italian- learning a second language gives me an insight to a pupil. I was situated in Milano this year, teaching English as a foreign language full time for 7 months- I worked with all manner of students and all ages- from 4-60, within public and private schools; and within one on one and classroom environments. I hold a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)- and have experience teaching students from the age of 4 to 60- in a multitude of environments. I am trained in tutoring for IELTS, Cambridge English and TOEFL exams- and in teaching English as a foreign language from A1 to C2. Currently, I still teach classes at the British Study Centre in Edinburgh in these areas. This keeps my teaching fresh and shows my commitment to professional development. I also hold an HND in Acting & Performance. This course alighted my passion for teaching. It gave me a multitude of experience in leading and delivering drama workshops, and have created content that has been used all over Scotland. I have had experience working as a Primary Assistant, working in close relation to English. I have also been through the current Scottish exam system and I have experience tutoring students tutoring students to work towards this. I have a comprehensive understanding of the Scottish Intermediate and Higher system in English, Drama and Modern Studies. I also have an understanding of the English A-level system- and although I have not taught in this area- I am confident about tutoring towards them.

I take pride in the way I can create bespoke lessons for Students- ones that are tailored towards meeting their goals and that they will find interesting. I understand that learning can be daunting and stressful sometimes, but I am confident that my lessons will be something for my Students to look forward to. During sessions, I have a clear and comfortable manner, friendly manner. I am very adaptive towards my Students and always work towards their goals in their timeframes. I am confident about tailoring lessons specifically to my students, in an engaging and interesting way. I regard the content of lessons highly- and will work at creating lessons that focus on the goals but that appeal to the personality of my Students.

Teaching online is preferred during this time. £10 an hour flat rate. I recommend classes usually last 2 hours but I am happy to adapt to your needs.
