About Jacob

I’m a Welsh-speaking policymaker with experience in developing and delivering work focused on the Welsh language and culture. I currently lead the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales’ Culture and Welsh Language Mission and am responsible for embedding the Welsh Language Standards across the organisation.

I’m also a former BBC journalist, where I presented Welsh-language news, and I regularly speak publicly in Welsh.

I have a great passion for international relations and travelling - advising the UN and other institutions. So learning about other cultures and languages is an exciting part of my life.

About the lesson

I’m passionate about the Welsh language and excited to help others on their journey to learning and using Welsh.

I offer friendly, informal 60-minute sessions via Zoom, tailored to your level, interests and goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have some Welsh, sessions can focus on building confidence and making Welsh practical and enjoyable.

What we can work on

* Conversation – everyday Welsh, basic phrases and building confidence speaking.
* Writing & grammar – developing vocabulary, sentence structure and written Welsh.
* Workplace Welsh – practising meetings, presentations, professional conversations and work-related content.
* Presentations & public speaking – preparing and practising in Welsh.
* Your goals – sessions shaped around your interests, needs and level.

I want sessions to be relaxed and supportive, giving you the confidence to make mistakes, ask questions and actually use Welsh in everyday life, work and social settings.

I have previous tutoring experience as a Welsh Language Students Officer at university, as well as supporting friends and colleagues to develop their Welsh.

Whether you’re starting from scratch, looking to build confidence or wanting to use more Welsh at work, I’d love to help.
