About Alvaro

I am a friendly and patient teacher with three years of experience helping students of all levels learn Spanish. I’m passionate about teaching and enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds while sharing my language and culture.

Outside the classroom, I’m interested in fitness, sports, pets, philosophy, and photography, and I’m always open to exploring new topics and learning from my students.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to your level and goals, ensuring we focus on what is most relevant to you—whether you’re preparing for travel, advancing in your career, studying for an exam, or connecting with family.

Lessons incorporate a variety of materials such as videos, images, grammar and listening exercises, roleplays, and games. Whenever possible, I link the content to your hobbies and interests to keep learning fun and meaningful.

To guide your progress, I create a structured study plan with clear objectives and review your development regularly. This approach ensures steady improvement.

All notes are stored in an online notebook for easy review, and I can provide optional homework to reinforce what you learn between sessions.

Spanish culture is generally friendly, welcoming, and optimistic. I love that attitude.
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
It helps me connect with my family. Also, if more people in the US can speak Spanish, it would help Latin Americans to communicate more easily.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
One of the main difficulties for many English speakers is remembering that Spanish has genders, but English does not. A good tip is to learn the rules to identify the gender of nouns, and also to always learn nouns and their gender at the same time.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
I had one teacher who always taught me using funny stories from his personal life and then encouraged me to also tell him my stories, I feel that helped me a lot to improve my listening and speaking.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Traveling to countries in Latin America has helped me how rich is the language. There are many different accents and words used across regions.
