About Leo

I have vast experience of teaching French in different contexts and to students from various ages, levels and backgrounds. I have taught in private institutions (Alliance Française) and public schools. Most recently, I had the privilege to teach at Avignon University in France, where I taught French to foreign students, and was also in charge of courses – in linguistics and teaching methodology – for future teachers.

I have always been passionate about languages which is something I try to instil in my students, whatever their goals may be.

In my thesis, I analysed errors in the perception and production of specific French sounds. This allowed me to develop techniques and methods to correct and to improve the pronunciation of foreign learners. I am convinced that, with the right guidance and direction, anyone can attain a level of pronunciation that allows them to communicate efficiently.

About the lesson

- All levels :
I teach general French to all levels, from complete beginners eager to discover a new language and its culture, to confirmed speakers looking to excel in their use of the language.

- Focus on pronunciation :
I will be particularly interested in helping you improve your pronunciation skills by providing specific feedback and suitable exercises.

- University students :
I also provide guidance to university students working on their dissertations. Having worked as an Assistant Lecturer in a French university, I supervised Undergraduate and Masters students’ research projects.

- Length of a lesson : 1 hour (flexible on request).

- I teach : Adults

Leo tutored me in Spanish at first year University non-beginners level and completely transformed my confidence both in conversing in the language and in its comprehension too. He put a major focus in working collectively to ensure that I was enjoying the learning and gaining valuable knowledge from our tutoring session while also taking time to work out which learning styles suited me and including tasks and information which peaked my own personal interests. The breakdown of our tutoring together into speaking, writing and reading tasks quickly reflected my own personal circumstances around the examination format which I was preparing for and Leo was extremely understanding of a tight turnaround in schedule for myself in the lead up to the final test. He was always willing to spend extra time and care to ensure that I grasped the content while going above and beyond to teach me new grammatical rules and sayings which would boost my understanding of the language. Practically, Leo took my grade from a low D in Non-Beginners Spanish (European Framework of Languages B1) to a high B in speaking and a high C in writing in just a few weeks. I was absolutely delighted with the results from tutoring with Leo and he was an absolutely lovely guy as well who genuinely enjoys languages and helping students to reach their potential. I simply couldn't thank him enough.

One of my daughters referred me to Leo in order to follow a few sessions to improve my speaking skills in Spanish. Leo not only fulfilled all my expectations but did it in a warmful relationship. No stress: a tremendous ability to listen to you and correct you if necessary and at the proper time, allowing you to have the time to think by yourself. Great way to improve...
His wide knowledge of languages in every dimension makes him able to provide a lot of interesting insights and thus to make you share his passion!
Having been an English teacher in France for many years myself, I highly recommend Leo as a talented and dedicated teacher!!!
