About Shamita

Hi! My name is Shamita, and I’m a Grade 11 student currently enrolled in the IB (International Baccalaureate) program. I have a strong academic background, especially in Math, Science, French, English, and Music, and I love helping younger students feel more confident in what they're learning. I completed French Immersion up to Grade 8, so I’m fluent in both English and French and comfortable supporting students in either language. Whether it's explaining math step by step, practicing French vocabulary, improving writing skills, or reviewing music theory, I focus on making each lesson engaging, clear, and encouraging. As someone who was recently in the same grades I'm teaching, I know how school can feel overwhelming sometimes. My goal is to create a safe and friendly space where students can ask questions freely and enjoy learning. I tutor students in Grades 1–8, and I adapt every lesson to match each student’s pace and learning style. Outside of school, I enjoy playing music, reading, and volunteering. I’m reliable, patient, and always bring a positive attitude to every session!

About the lesson

As a current Grade 11 IB student with a background in French Immersion, I bring both strong academic skills and a deep understanding of how students learn best. I tutor students from Grade 1 to Grade 8 in Math, Sceince, French, English, and Music, and I adapt every lesson to match each student’s learning style, pace, and goals. I use a student-centered, supportive approach focused on building confidence and understanding. I break down concepts into simple steps, use real-life examples, and create a judgment-free space where students feel comfortable asking questions. I include visuals, practice problems, games, or memory tricks when helpful, especially for younger learners or visual learners. For French, I integrate conversation practice, reading comprehension, and fun vocabulary games. In music, I focus on theory, ear training, and building a strong foundation depending on the student’s needs. A typical lesson plan would look like this! Quick Check-In (5 mins): See how they’re feeling and review previous work. Main Lesson (30–40 mins): Teach new content using clear explanations and examples. Interactive and engaging. Practice Time (10–15 mins): We work through practice questions or exercises together. Wrap-Up (5 mins): Review key points and give tips or light homework if needed. Lessons are always customized: shorter and playful for younger kids, more focused and structured for older grades. What Sets Me Apart? I’m close in age to my students, so I understand their challenges and how they think. I’ve been through French Immersion, so I can help with tricky grammar, vocabulary, and fluency in a relatable way. As an IB student, I’m trained to think critically, explain clearly, and manage time well—skills I pass on to my students. I genuinely love helping others succeed and feel more confident in school.
