About Nghia
Self-taught in guitar since I was 12, I first learned music by reproducing what I heard on my instrument before putting words or signs into it. This is why I place a lot of importance on an intuitive and sensory learning of music. I met the double bass quite late (around my 23rd) but the musical baggage that I acquired during my guitarist years served me as a solid base on which I could build my new learning. I currently play in several local groups with various aesthetics (jazz, pop, French song). I have also arranged for several groups (strings, small jazz groups, big bands) and I compose for a large big-band type ensemble (17 musicians).

The starting point is always the will and motivation of the student. I then implement appropriate support in order to achieve with the student the objectives that we have previously defined together. In my lessons, we will often sing (yes anyone can sing!), And / or clap, independently of the student's instrument in order to assimilate the music through the body. It is only once the body has taken the imprint of this music that the reproduction on the instrument can begin. I propose 3 axes of work, which are not necessarily incompatible: - Training of the ear in order to make the student AUTONOMOUS to reproduce the pieces that he / he wants. (For any instrumentalist) - FOUNDATIONS of the double bass: posture, emission of sound (with the bow and the finger) and accuracy. For those who would like, we could approach and / or deepen the jazz double bass. - Arrangement (jazz, pop, variety). How to ADAPT a piece to a given INSTRUMENTAL FORMATION.
