About Marissa
While in school myself, I was eligible for the National Honors Society for all three years they enroll. I strongly value not only doing well academically, but developing skills and mindsets that will leave a student *wanting* to learn and feeling proud of themself while doing so. I struggled during my academic career, but was able to accomplish, learn, and thrive after developing good study skills and habits. I learned to focus on learning and comprehension, achievable goals, and progress rather than unrealistically pushing myself to be absolutely perfect on every assignment. Creating that strong foundation of study skills and setting goals in order to measure and recognize progress is key for a student to learn and feel accomplished. I know because I went through the same process!

I'm a former honor student who completed progress math up to AP Calculus AB. I am looking to tutor students in grades k-8 in primarily math subjects, but am willing to aid in other subjects as well if needed. Having attended both in-person and fully virtual schools, I am familiar with a wide variety of lesson plans and tools that are utilized within curriculums (physical and virtual textbooks, IXL, khan academy, audio lectures, interactable slideshows, etc.). I am well-versed on a wide variety of study skills to not only aid students in any given assignment or subject, but to teach them how to better study and engage with learning resources on their own (applicable to all subjects!). I will help students set SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) so they can learn and progress through their school subjects, and feel accomplished while doing it!
