About Dan
I am currently Head of Maths at a North London private school for the past 4 years. Other than teaching Maths, my passion is Chess and was the former U14, U15 and U16 British Champion. I have been tutoring Chess since the age of 13 and the love of teaching got me into the profession full time, currently teaching Mathematics to secondary school students. I feel my passion for Chess is infectious but please see for yourself!

My methodology is based around understanding. You must understand why you are playing the moves you are so you can understand why a move is good or not. I also think learning needs to be fun - I feel without that it becomes a chore which is the last thing we want! I ensure this through passion as well as tailoring the tutoring specifically to the student. If a student can see improvement they are more likely to enjoy it!

A fantastic teacher and coach. I couldn't recommend Dan enough. My daughter's chess game has improved dramatically under his tutelage, she now deploys fierce openings and maintains a strategic, calculating pressure. Thank you, Dan. (He's also a bit of a whiz at teaching Maths.)
Dan is great. Very friendly, knowledgeable and his explanations are very clear. I highly recommend him for anyone looking to improve at chess.
