About Cassie
Hi! I’m Cassie Cowan, a dedicated first-grade teacher in my third year of teaching and sixth year in education. My experience ranges from special education services to computer lab instruction, and now full-time classroom teaching. I’m a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and deeply passionate about helping young learners grow into confident readers and writers. This year alone, 85% of my students made a full year’s growth in reading, with two achieving two years’ growth—and 70% finished the year on grade level. I also led my grade level in iReady growth for both reading and math. My approach is data-informed, nurturing, and rooted in proven strategies that truly work for early learners.

As a certified first-grade teacher with a passion for literacy, I provide personalized ELAR tutoring for students in grades K–3. My lessons are grounded in proven techniques and guided reading strategies that support early readers in developing strong foundational and advanced literacy skills.
Students will receive targeted instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, and word recognition, while also building a deep understanding of vocabulary and semantics. I help young learners master essential comprehension strategies and navigate more complex concepts such as author’s purpose, genre distinctions, and story elements across literary and informational texts.
In addition to reading, I provide support in writing development—from generating ideas to organizing thoughts and composing clear, structured pieces. Each session is tailored to meet your child’s unique needs, fostering confidence, independence, and a love for reading and writing.
