About Olly
I’m a London-based architectural designer, currently working full-time as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant at Hale Brown Architects. I previously worked at Foster + Partners, gaining experience across both large international projects and smaller, design-led architectural practice.
I studied architecture at the University of Brighton, graduating with First-Class Honours and receiving the RIBA Sussex Branch Award, before completing my Master of Architecture at the University of Edinburgh (ESALA). My academic work has received a number of awards and commendations, including the ESALA MArch Thesis Award for Best Design Project, and I was selected as the University of Edinburgh’s sole nominee for the AJ Student Prize.
Alongside practice, I have experience teaching architecture at the University of Brighton, where I returned after graduating to support second- and third-year students through lectures, tutorials and project reviews.
I really enjoyed teaching and am keen to continue it alongside professional practice. Architecture school can be demanding, and I know how valuable a good tutorial can be when developing a project or preparing a portfolio. My aim is to offer thoughtful, constructive and encouraging advice while helping students develop their own architectural interests and design approach.

My tutorials are tailored to the individual student and their project. Rather than imposing a particular design approach, I work through your project with you, discussing the concept, drawings, models and portfolio, to identify what is working, what could be stronger, and clear ways to move the project forward.
My approach is similar to an architecture-school tutorial or crit, but in a relaxed one-to-one setting where we have the time to properly work through ideas. I can help with concept development, architectural design, representation, portfolio composition, visual communication and preparing for reviews or submissions.
I have previous experience tutoring second, and third-year architecture students at the University of Brighton, including one-to-one tutorials, lectures and project reviews. Alongside this, I am currently working full-time in architectural practice as a Part 2 Architectural Assistant and previously worked at Foster + Partners.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suitable for BA and MArch architecture students, prospective architecture students developing portfolios, and students preparing applications to architecture schools. I’m also happy to work with students who simply feel stuck on a project and would benefit from a fresh pair of eyes and constructive design criticism.
