About Hersheyne
Hi, I’m Hersheyne - a CIPFA Level 7 Finance Graduate currently working in public sector finance.
Through both my studies and my role, I’ve developed a strong foundation in accounting, this means I don’t only understand the theory, I practise it every day.
What makes my approach different is that I’m still actively going through the learning process myself. I understand first-hand how confusing accounting can feel at the beginning - whether it’s double entries, financial statements, or adjustments that just don’t seem to “click”. Because of this, I focus on explaining things in a way that I wish I had been taught when I first started.
Additionally, I’m particularly interested in developing a deeper understanding of accounting - not just how to pass exams, but why things work the way they do. This allows me to help students build genuine confidence in the subject, rather than relying on memorisation alone.
Alongside my studies, I’ve gained practical experience working with financial data, journals, and reporting processes, which I bring into my lessons where useful to make topics more intuitive and relatable.
I take a professional but approachable approach to tutoring, aiming to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems step-by-step.

My approach to tutoring is centred around clarity, structure, and personalisation. I understand that accounting can feel overwhelming at first, so my goal is to break complex topics down into simple, logical steps that are easy to follow and apply in exams.
Before starting regular lessons, I like to have a short initial discussion with each student to understand:
- What topics you are struggling with
- Your current level (A-Level or university)
- Your exam goals and deadlines
- Your preferred learning style (visual, practice-based, step-by-step, etc.)
This allows me to tailor every session specifically to you rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
A typical lesson (usually 60 minutes) is structured as follows:
- A quick recap or diagnostic to identify gaps in understanding
- Clear explanation of the topic using simple, real-world examples
- Guided practice where the student attempts questions with support
- Focus on exam technique, including layout, workings, and common mistakes
I strongly emphasise active learning, meaning students will practise during the session rather than just listen. This builds confidence and ensures they can apply the knowledge independently.
As a Finance Grad, I bring real-world context into lessons where helpful, which can make topics like financial statements and adjustments easier to understand.
My lessons are best suited for:
