About Erica
Hello! I'm Dr. Erica Newcomb, a passionate educator with over 20 years of experience in teaching and mentoring young learners. I hold a Doctorate in Curriculum Design, as well as Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Mathematics Leadership. Throughout my career, I’ve been dedicated to helping students build strong academic foundations while nurturing a lifelong love of learning. My expertise lies in working with elementary-aged children, particularly in developing skills in reading, writing, and math. I believe every child is capable of success when given the right support, encouragement, and tools tailored to their individual learning style. Beyond the classroom, I enjoy mentoring young leaders and designing engaging, hands-on learning experiences. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve academically but also to boost their confidence and independence as learners.

As a Doctor of Education with a strong foundation in elementary education and over two decades of experience, I bring a personalized, student-centered approach to tutoring. My method focuses on building confidence, deepening understanding, and developing strong foundational skills through engaging, interactive lessons tailored to each child’s unique learning style. Each session typically begins with a quick check-in and review of previous content to reinforce retention. I then introduce new concepts using hands-on strategies, real-world examples, and guided practice. Lessons end with reflection and goal-setting to ensure continuous progress and motivation. What sets me apart is my ability to break down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps while creating a safe and encouraging learning environment. I specialize in working with elementary students from kindergarten through sixth grade, including those who may need support in reading, math, writing, or organizational skills. Whether your child is striving to catch up or looking to get ahead, my lessons are designed to empower them with the tools and confidence they need to succeed.
