About Kojo

In my ten year professional career, I have managed to work on a variety of different projects each adding to my arsenal as an engineer. My approach to each task over the years has changed as I now subscribe to Uncle Bob's clean coding principles in my development cycle. I am also keen on making use of a test-driven process in my work.

About the lesson

My lessons are for beginners and intermediate engineers looking to improve on their skills. I often find that students are great at understanding programming but need a bit of guidance on how to structuring all they have been taught into what their clients expect of them. My goal is to get you to the level that you will be able to know the necessary tools and resources available to aid you in your next development . We will learn by building projects that in turn communicate programming concepts that are used often on the job . I also make sure to form a study plan that will cater to the students learning style.

Perfect! The session with Kojo was excellent. I had most of my Java code complete, but there were several syntax errors, and some trouble shooting to go through to make the program compile properly. Kojo, pointed them out for me and explained to me why it was wrong and then explained how to fix it. Great session, highly recommend working with Kojo.

At present I think Jordan has a good understanding of programming. I believe it won't be long till he has a full grasp of Java. With the exercises and classwork he has been given he will grow in confidence and know the right sites/resources to use when he gets stuck.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I developed an interest in software engineering during my undergraduate studies in computer science. While taking courses on programming languages and algorithms, I was fascinated by how software engineers were able to create complex systems and solve real-world problems using code. During an exchange program in the US I had the joy of working on a project with two other classmates. I was blown away with how they saw the project as the chance to make something fun and creative. My classmate decided to add Pac Man to the application which was supposed to be a regular office application that was built with VS code. I couldn't believe it. Thats when I saw that in our job we can really push the boundaries beyond the constraints of a requirements doc.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
As a software engineer candidate, I am passionate about software engineering because it allows me to use my problem-solving skills to create innovative solutions that have the potential to positively impact people's lives.
My first job was working as an android developer for a digital address company that was making a real difference in people's lives . Every day I saw in real time what we were doing was being used in so many different ways I couldn't imagine would apply to our context in Ghana. For me that is the drive and motivation I need to do the job.
What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?
"I have worked as a teacher since 2010, where I was a teaching assistant for Class 1 students. I take great joy in empowering others with the experience and techniques I have developed on my own. At the same time, it's extraordinary to see how students apply methods to their work, and I also learn from them during the course of the lessons.
Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.
Yes for me my biggest role model is my mother who has been my best ally throughout my life. Her patience with me and my siblings is a great inspiration
What are your keys to success?
Great question. I would say having confidence in the work , having a growth mindset and enjoying solving problems.
