About Laura

I have been teaching violin lessons part time for 2 years at the North Broward Prep School and am starting my own studio this year. I have been playing the violin for 10 years and have performed at Carnegie Hall twice, the most recent being last year with my piano quintet performing Dvorak's piano quintet in A. I have also received straight superiors at State solo and ensemble MPA 2014-2018 and will be attending state mpa and state federation this year. I am a also 3-time finalist at the South Florida Young Artist competition and have been accepted into the New World Side by Side orchestra, who I performed with in 2018 and 2017. I have consistently performed in the North Broward chamber ensembles and last year formed the school's first piano trio, which has also received superiors at district mpa and federation and will be going to states this year. I am very familiar with beginner violinists of any age and am very familiar with state competitions for students if that is something you are interested in taking part in.

I love sharing the joy of music with my students, and I love being able to bring my students to the next level of music making and helping them become the best musicians they can be.

I started tutoring students in my school's elementary orchestra 3 years ago as volunteer work. My orchestra director suggested I start teaching part time and I've been teaching ever since.

I have been studying the violin in South Florida for 10 years and have received lessons from instructors including Charlie Castleman, Marc Rovetti of the Philadelphia orchestra, Dara Morales of the Philadelphia orchestra, and Mischa Vitenson of Amernet Quartet. I am currently a part of Ms. Huifang Chen's studio and study chamber music regularly.

About the lesson

I follow the Suzuki method for beginner students. If a student has a specific piece they would like to learn I will build up their skills to learn the techniques needed to play the piece as we study it. I teach scales (if the student has a preference of Galamian or Flesch I can teach both) and etudes from Kreutzer, Sevcik, and/or Schradieck according to the student's level. If a student is more advanced than the first 4 Suzuki books we will follow Dorothy Delay's order for concertos and solo piece studies.

I have worked with beginner violinists from kindergarten through high school. I have also worked with adult beginners and intermediate players.

I would suggest taking a trial lesson first to make sure you and your teacher's personality match.
