About Mr Kelly
You will learn to play the violin, viola, or cello and though you know they are difficult instruments, you will be surprised what you will acomplish. If you choose to join an orchestra I can get you ready. If you decide you would like to play in small groups such as a trio or quartet I can get you going that way. Do you want to go in the direction or blue grass or fiddle? I can get you there. I have played violin since 1975. I began teaching cello and viola in 2010. I am a technician. Music theory is incorporated into lessons: I want you to understand the science of music and apply what you learn as you play
I hold two recitals a year, the spring dinner show and Christmas recital. My youngest student has been 4 years old and my oldest and my oldest is in his 70s. My students have joined the Salem Pops. I helped another with her time in the Salem Philharmonic. I often have students from The Salem Keizer school district.
I am tuned into the needs of my students. I worked for years as a mental health therapist. I am good with students who deal with aspergers and autism. I tune into the frustrations of my students and help them work through those frustrations before they have brought those frustrations to me.
I never get tired of teaching you. It is not uncommon for me to lose track of time and you may get a few extra minutes during a lesson
I have taught violin off and on since 1983 and consistently since 1990. I have been teaching cello and viola since 2010. I have played as part of Bellafina Ensemble since 2010 and you can hear our recordings of "Sunrise, Sunset", "Carrol County Blues," and "Edward Scissorhands" on (concealed information) I taught violin and cello at Livingstone Adventist Academy from 2007 -2010

I like to meet with my potential student before any payment. Lessons can be done at my studio or at your house for +$2/lesson. My studio is huge with extra space, table, and toys so if you have kids they can come right with you. If your child student has siblings they can color and draw or do homework during the lesson. I get long term and short term goals from each student. You pay the beginning of the month for the month. I am flexible with missed lessons through make up times. I begin my students with Essential Elements for Strings. If a student stays with me long term we use the Doflein method of string instruction (in violin)

My daughter Savannah is on her third year working with Kelly. I have been amazed at the progress she has made going from a beginner to an accomplished violinist. Most amazing for me has been Kelly's ability to keep a 17 year old young lady with all the distractions that come with being that age, not only interested but enthused to continue the experience. I highly recommend him.
Kelly’s a great teacher and has the patience of a saint, l would highly recommend him to any one that wants to learn the mystery of the violin.
As a parent, I like that my daughter is learning while having fun. I also appreciate that lessons are flexible so we can make up time missed.
