About David

I am a french horn player with 7 years of experience on my instrument that can provide great advice and teaching for horn members since I perform on Horn. I was a member of:

-All-State Honor Blue Band 2022

-Alabama District 1 Honor band 2022

-North Regional Orchestra Honor band 2022

-1st Chair 2 years in a row in my band in a large and talented horn section

I am also a trumpet player in our jazz band and mellophone for marching band. I work very hard and have a passion for teaching. I was a drum major for my school this year and am very passionate about band and music. I will do my absolute best to help those in need learn how to play the best brass instrument, the French Horn!

I have a lot of leadership training and instruction training from drum major camp and a year of experience as drum major. I also have a lot of teaching experience from training young BoyScouts. On top of that, I have been close to if not top chair in the horn section my entire life and have given a lot of help and advice to my fellow horn players as well as led many sectionals. I believe this training would all help me train up other students to be the best they can be.

About the lesson

I like to start new students off going through a series of method books to see about where they are in terms of musical ability. We go through each part and each lesson would focus on pinning down specifics in technique and style to help my students truly grow and be sucessful. If a student prefers, however, we can look at audition or solo material they wish to review and I can help them work through that piece and provide tips to make them more sucessful.

If you are looking to hire a private tutor, understand that all teachers have different methods and not every teacher fits every student. Don't be afraid to try multiple tutors until you get a mentor who best suits you as an individual.
