About Yvonne
I am a friendly instuctor at a city pool in Albuquerque. Feel free to ask me where I work. I have been on my swim team in High School for a year and have made it to varsity in that short amount of time. I am very comfortable in the water and wish my students gain the skills I have made for myself. I have been cpr, aed, first aid, and asthma inhaler certified since 2015. I have a lifeguarding certification with the city that covers cpr, aed, first aid, and lifeguarding. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish.
I enjoy being a lifeguard at a city pool because I meet new people and teach different age groups. The kids are always fun to teach and it is fun to share my knowledge of what I love, swimming. Best way to contact me is my email (concealed information) Or phone (concealed information) through text or call, leave a message if I cannot reach your call.
I started teaching different age pods at Rio Grande Outdoor pool last summer by lifeguarding.
I have been CPR certified for 3 years and lifeguard certified for 1 year. I work at an outdoor pool by the zoo in Albuquerque and have experience dealing with kids of all ages because I have taught swimming lessons last summer at the pool I work at. This year I will be teaching the swim team for ages around 14.

Firstly I start with learning their name, interests, and how comfortable they are in the water. This can be jumping in and catching them, sticking their face under water, or blowing bubbles. I will work with what they feel comfortable with and encouragement from parents when needed. If the child is more comfortable in Spanish I can speak with them in Spanish.
I have worked with all children including behavioral issues or special needs. I often had to watch and teach 8 kids all at once.
Don’t be afraid to open up and be personal, it builds trust. Always remain respectful and don’t give up when becoming fearful. Teachers will always keep you safe. In my lessons I form relationships and when my work is accomplished there is a celebration of snacks just like the lessons taught at my pool. That is if the lessons go on for days.
I have just graduated and thank my swim coach for being there and supporting me for my hard work.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are students willing to learn, such as the strokes, or how far they are willing to swim. As long as they strive to each a goal, they will succed if they talk about it. Teachers are there to motivate their students and carry out their dreams.

She was very sweet and gave all of her students equal attention. I saw her work with special needs and helped him learn at his pace. My son loves her and we always see her on stand. I trust her.

Because I offer to drive and find a pool to swim at in my own time, I charge by the hour. For children with needs I will take that in consideration and will need more info on what kind of restrictions there is or behavioral issues I’ll have to accommodate to. Private lessons are typically around $30/hour and cover all areas of learning of a week’s time, depending on the willingness of a child. I will be charging $20/hour.
