About Simone
I started working with children and teenagers as a mentor and tutor in public schools since 2011. My bachelor's degree in psychology gives me a good understanding of memory, cognition, and motivation. Thanks to my educations, I have learned how to teach students techniques that help them learn how to make the most of their time studying. Recently, I worked as an assistant teacher at a Montessori school, where I learned new valuable teaching skills.
I enjoy seeing people feeling proud of themselves as they learn and grow. It is a vicarious feeling :-)
I first taught English as a foreign language to a small group of teenage students in 1997.

When working with a new student, I try to learn about the child's personality, difficulties, and style of learning. This way I can adjust my teaching style to the child's needs.
Since 2011, I have worked with students from ages 3 to 18. Some of them had learning disabilities and/or developmental disorders, such as altism.
I think it is important for students to have a nice rapport with their teachers. If you do not like your teacher, learning will not be as easy.
In my most recent job, I had been teaching self-care and social skills to pre-elementary school children. It was sweet to watch them practice :-)
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Besides asking teachers about their experience teaching, I believe that liking the teacher is fundamental. Try to meet with your prospect teachers before you hire them to see if you have a connection with them, and if they make you feel at ease.
