About Heidi

Heidi began learning Spanish in school and has been traveling to Spanish-speaking countries every chance she gets. She pursued Spanish as her major at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. There, she continued to develop her Spanish skills and cultural background as studied abroad in two different countries - Ecuador and Peru. She later earned her Master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont with a summer abroad in Argentina.

After college, Heidi started teaching Spanish to high schoolers in Vermont. She then took her career to Massachusetts and is now in her 13th year of teaching. Crazy how fast time flies when you’re having fun! Heidi thoroughly enjoys working with her students as she incorporates new methodologies and loves watching her students acquire the language.

Now with young children of her own, Heidi has started to teach Spanish to a younger population. There are so many magical moments as kids learn language and the rapid pace at which they acquire it is fascinating. She is excited to continue working with kids and experience the energy and joy of teaching language to this age group.

I first started teaching as a long term sub for a maternity leave. I never knew I wanted to teach unti I stepped into the classroom. What a fun job!

I was able to learn so much Spanish this year in Mrs. Hewitt's class. I enjoyed the personalization of the class, the community we built, and the way we were active in class using gestures and playing games.
