About Lori
Welcome!
I am Lori Şen; singer, voice pedagogue, & music scholar. I am currently on the voice faculty at the University of Maryland School of Music and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. I also maintain a private studio/office. I regularly work with students of all genders, ranging from teenagers to adults focusing on classical, musical theatre, jazz, and popular styles. I also work with business professionals in improving their speaking voices and public speaking skills. This includes accent reduction.
I have been performing in the following genres for over 20 years: Sephardic Music, Opera, Art Song, Musical Theatre, and Jazz. I am also a researcher known for my scholarly work focusing on voice pedagogy, voice science, and vocal literature. I am an eloquent public speaker, delivering lectures and presentations in various settings in the U.S. and abroad. I am bilingual in English and Turkish, fluent in Swedish, and have studied Italian, German, and French. I have performed in many languages including the ones mentioned and Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and Hebrew.
