About Tamra
If you want to sing like a pro, study with a pro! I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre from The University of Michigan. I'm a professional singer/actor (AEA, SAG, AFTRA) and a member of NATS (National Association for Teacher's of Singing). My credits include starring as Christine Daae in "The Phantom of the Opera" opposite Sir Michael Crawford and Davis Gaines. I teach vocal techniques for musical theatre "belting", pop/rock, and classical. I also help my students prepare their material for college auditions (see link below), pro auditions, competitions, and performances. My students learn amazing technique that's grounded in science to improve range, vocal power, and stamina. The lessons are targeted, and my students experience transformations and RESULTS!

I enjoy helping my students discover the voice they always dreamed using solid and effective techniques. I also love seeing many of my students achieve success singing professionally in musical theatre, pop/rock bands, and in the recording studio as singers and producers of original music.
I began teaching following the birth of my first daughter, when I realized that I wanted to transition from a professional career to my passion for helping others develop their gifts as artists. I learned my teaching methods (pedagogy) from the same teacher whom I trained with during my career!
I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre (Voice) from The University of Michigan SMTD. I'm a member of several Unions for professional singers and teachers:

About the lesson

First and foremost, I want the student to feel relaxed and comfortable. Next, I want to understand the student's goals, and what they've been trying thus far. Then we begin to dig into technique by doing some basic scales and warm-ups". This is where the magic happens and voices begin to transform! When the student has some strength and healthy technique going, we work on songs. I love to suggesting repertoire for students based upon their voice type, genre of choice, age, and level of skill. We can also add what I like to call "enrichment", which would include ear-training, sight-singing, and music theory, lyric analysis, acting for singers, performance coaching.
I've worked with students aged 8 to 80 for the past twenty years. My students range from pop/rock musicians on tour to New York based Broadway performers, to choir singers to students who want to star in their high school musical! I always advise students to hire a teacher who has a college degree in voice, and who can prove that they have peformed as a professional singer by their Union affiliations.
I just watched a student of mine (Delphi Borich) in a hilarious "social distancing parody" (on video) that she was in with other Broadway performers. They are attempting to rehearse a Broadway musical with mask and social distancing restrictions. Here's the link from Broadway World:

There are a lot of pop singing fads out there, but without a true foundation you can damage your voice. Tamra makes sure you have that foundation.
Tamra is amazing! From the very beginning when I first met her in 2011 up until just recently, she has been so encouraging, so uplifting with every vocal lesson I leave encouraged and impatiently waiting for my next lesson. Details
Protege (one-on-one) mentoring opportunities with me are available in in a bi-monthly or weekly option for meeting. Each level is a 3 month minimum commitment, and has a different price point. I also offer group memberships (paid weekly, cancel at any time). All Protoge lessons are currently on Zoom using Marco Polo as a platform for asynchronous feedback between lessons.
