About Kim
I teach vocals starting with developing a healthy voice and good vocal habits. I teach students to use their voices "like an instrument": to be able to perform mutliple styles of music and stretch their range and performance potential to the fullest. As a vocalist I have had several record deals and as a back-up singer I have performed with Roy Orbison, Isaac Hayes, Sam Moore, Carl Perkins, Al Kooper, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Leon Russell, Lynnyrd Skynnyrd, Dickie Betts, Jeannie C Riley, Jim ED Brown, Billy Preston, Jackson Brown, Joe Diffie,Peabo Bryson, T Graham Brown,Bonnie Bramlett,Dobie Gray,Thelma Houston,Michael Mc Donald,David Essex,Jerry Reed, Ben Vereen,Percy Sledge,Eddie Rabbit,Conway Twitty,The Whites,Maurice Williams, Hank Williams jr and many more.
I also teach songwriting. I am a Grammy nominated writer with multiple gold and platinum records and awards. My publishing affiliations include New Keys Music,Tree Publishing,Frank and Nancy (Sinatra) Music,Dick James Music (London), Merit Muisc,Surespin Songs, BMG Music, Killen Music Group, Montigo Bay/CDP Music, Universal Music, and I currently write for Kirogo Songs. My songs have been recorded by a wide variety of artists, many of them icons. I have had my songs recorded by Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty, Irma Thomas, Ty Herndon, Jon Verity (Argent),Dickie Betts,Mel Tillis,Dave Dudley,Johnny Adams,Mickey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Frank Sinatra Jr, John Anderson and many others.
I also teach open tuning guitar as well. It is a perfect way of teaching beginners to be able to play a vast number of songs in just a few lessons.
I began working in my first rock band at age 13.By age 15 I was a member of one of the most popular bands in southern California. I came to Nashville in 1969 and was signed to publishing, mamagement, booking and had a major label record deal my first week in town.I have a lot of experience to share and I want to pass it on. I love to see a student "get it". When the light comes on and they feel the rush of accomplishment. I love to teach and I love to help my students move forward and expand their possibilities.
