About Nick
I'm a tenor with years of experience in both classical/musical theatre and pop/rock musics. I find that singing is best approached both technically and poetically, placing equal importance on technical and performance masteries. I have a Bachelor's in Music from James Madison University and have been teaching part-time for the last few years.
I had been performing in my area throughout college and wanted to continue doing so, but with much more time available I was given the advice to start teaching in the area. I had taught some before, just as a hobbiest, and took up with it quite naturally.
I have a Bachelor's in Music, with a focus in voice, from James Madison University.

I find it is best to explore the student's instrument with them and identify their greatest strengths. From there, we can work outward and maintain positivity rather than focusing strictly on the "negative" aspects of their voice.
I've worked with students as young as eight-years-old that were auditioning for Les Mis, and I've coached undergraduate students in preparation for auditions and exams. I've also taught hobbiests and young singer-songwriters. I'm happy to work with all sorts of voices and styles.
Find somebody with whom you will not only work well but also enjoy doing so. I have found that even some of the finest singers and teachers simply don't "click" with certain students, nor the students with them. More benefit may be found through great communication than expertise alone.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The number one question you'll be asked is this: What do you want to do with your voice? This will likely mean both in a professional sense and a more technical sense. This is a big question that takes some deliberation, so it's best to be prepared for it; afterall, the answer is most important to you, not your instructor.
