About Amy

Hi there. My name is Amy Lish. I teach sewing lessons because I love sharing my talents and helping others to find joy in front of the sewing machine.

My mother was a beautiful seamstresses and started teaching me to sew when I was 8 years old. Lets just say that I have YEARS of experience. 😂

I have taught group and private lessons to children ages 8 and up.

I started teaching in 2008 and have taught over 100 kids to sew.

I recently started teaching adult private lessons because so many fruends have begged me to teach them. I love children and I have found that I really enjoy teaching adults, too.

I sew my own clothing, sew for my 11 grandchildren, sew home decor and enjoy quilting.

It is very exciting to see a new student grasp the art of sewing. I try my very best to help my students accomplish their goals and feel great satisfaction.

There are endless possibilities to one's creativity when they add sewing to their list of talents and hobbies. I have multiple types and brands of machines for my students to try. I can help you choose the machine that is right for you and your goals.

My main goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident in a clean and warm setting.

People come to me as students and leave as friends.

I love teaching sewing lessons because each person is unique. I never get bored. No two lessons or classes are the same. I enjoy watching my students light up as they finish a project that they feel happy about. There will always be something new to learn and creativity is endless.

I enjoy learning from my students. I tell my students that mistakes are learning experiences!

Mistakes make us better. I learn from my mistakes when I sew and the mistakes of my students. It's a win win situation for the student and teacher. Sewing is a constant progression of skills. I love taking a student from the basics and watching them grow.

I have 13 years experience teaching sewing classes. I have taught group lessons, summer camps and private lessons to children starting at age 8. Recently I have started teaching adult lessons. I have been referred to students by local quilt/fabric store employees and owners.

About the lesson

First I meet with the student and introduce myself.

I show them my set up and studio and then we discuss the students expectations and goals.
We set up a game plan and schedule the class dates and times.
