About Sabrina

Raw Armor consists of one well rounded Jane-of-all-trades, highly skilled in multiple areas of the crafting world, with the mission to bring life to the left behind. In an effort to do this, I employ my skills of sewing, carpentry, painting, graphic design, digital embroidery, digitizing on multiple platforms, vinyl art and a general knack for being a lady MacGyver!

I gladly share my knowledge of specialized skills that are slowly fading from common knowledge in today’s society.

I have taught sewing classes to students as young as 5years old all the way to senior citizens, and have held multi-session workshops for multiple students, such as homeschool groups.

My grandma taught me to sew 29 years ago...allow me to pass it on to you!

That 💡lightbulb moment, tho!

I began teaching sewing lessons while on medically advised bedrest during one of my pregnancies. I saw a great need in the community for the ability for young men and women to know how to sew, and since there were so many people who were looking to be taught, I stepped up to fill the need. I have always had a knack for being able to help people understand things that are otherwise a bit confusing, by tailoring lessons to the way an individual learns, so, as I began to teach, and my students happily learned, it grew from there.

I currently possess 29 years of sewing experience, 18 of which are professional apparel design and creation. I am a professional tailor, also, with an extensive amount of knowledge on alterations.

About the lesson

My sewing classes typically consist of 4 parts, each part lasting 1 hour. The first class, I spend getting to know my client, building a relationship of trust and comfort, and learning what they need from me, as well as what they are looking to do with their craft venture. By understanding what they are looking for and where they are starting with me, I am best able to know where we are going and how we will need to get there.

I will then proceed to begin the first lesson of teaching a general disassemble/reassemble of the machine, as well as general maintenance, and general good practice tips along the way.

I don’t take my clients and ‘dump them in the deep end’, as I believe a solid foundation and a reliable set of core instincts when sewing are some of the most valuable tools one can possess.

Actual sewing and project creation steps are conducted in classes 2,3 and 4.

I have worked with male and female students, aged 5 through senior citizens. One is never the wrong age or wrong type to learn a new Love.

Go with who feels right. Everyone has their own unique way of learning to do everything in life, but not everyone is able to teach you in your unique way. If something doesn’t feel right and you are not comfortable with the person who is helping you learn, you will not find the best success.

Never be afraid to decide something isn’t working for you. You are paying to learn a valuable skill. You will want to be confident that you are doing just that.
