About Leslie

Hi there! I’m your Seam Guide, Leslie Bonnell. I’m a lifelong sewist and a former award-winning costume designer for my work in theatre, opera, and ballet. In 2001, I found myself needing a less stressful career, so I began teaching sewing in my Bouldin Creek private studio and immediately found it to be magical and rewarding. In sharing 30+ years of experience, tips, tricks, along with nurturing patience, enthusiasm, and humor, I’ve earned a loyal following.

I love the one-on-one instruction in private lessons, as a time-efficient and personalized service to expedite reaching your sewing goals. I’m also excited about teaching classes to students who enjoy the social aspect of taking group classes. Keeping class sizes small allows me to give more attention to each student, which is very important to me.

I've been sewing professionally for over 30 years. For much of that time, I was an award-winning costume designer for theater and ballet, and have worked on countless projects with touring companies, the opera, and some films. I was Costume Shop Manager for 9 years at ZACH theater.

I love sharing my experience and expertise with students! I have SEW many techniques, tools, and a wonderful studio space to share with students.

About the lesson

For Private Lessons, students email (concealed information) or phone me directly (concealed information) to discuss their sewing goals and we hatch a lesson plan to start at your skill level and with a project that takes you to the next level. Lessons can be a one-time thing, or ongoing. For every four hours of Private Lessons, you get a free 1/2 hour.

For classes, you simply check out the options on my website at elbeestitchlab.com, and enroll from there. Of course, questions are always welcome to find the right class for you.

Details

Private Lessons are $40/hr, with a free 1/2 hour for every 4 hours booked.

Special pricing is available for pairs, and small groups of 3-4 students.

Scheduled group class prices vary by the class length and other considerations.
