About Nathan
I teach Alto/Tenor saxophone at the beginner to intermediate level as well as Music Theory Tutoring. I strive to help my students grow more comfortable with their horn, specifically helping with embouchure, tonality, fingerings ect. I believe that a solid foundation of fundamentals is extremely important as a saxophonist and is something I want to help my students succeed in. I also help students with reptiore they are struggling with in their ensembles.
There are so many things I have learned over the years about saxophone that I wish I knew when I started. I hope to share that knowledge with my students and help them grow to really understand what they're playing.
I have been playing Tenor and Alto saxophone for over 11 years in both classical and Jazz ensembles as well as personal work. I am currently studying music at Chapman University and play in their saxophone ensemble, wind ensemble, and big band. I also have had the opportunity to teach JSerra's Jazz Band in the past with a handful of beginner students.

For Beginner students, I help with intro topics like how to set up their saxophone, playing notes with sustained air and in tune, fingerings and reading music.
For Intermediate students, I help with personal pieces they are playing, difficult rythmns or fingerings, tonality, more advanced techniques like vibrato and scooping, as well as Jazz improvisation.
