About Mendie
I am a Certiified Speech-Language Pathologist in the Spring Branch area of Houston, Texas. I have also completed the 80 hour Orton Gillingham Approach for Reading, Writing and Spelling course by Neuhaus. I have a passion for teaching young children how to read, write, and spell, in conjunction with improved speech and language skills. I am a native Houstonian and attended school in Spring Branch ISD. I received my undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders from The University of Texas in 1989 and a Masters in Communication Disorders from The University of Houston in 1993. In order to get a wide array of experience, I chose to complete my Clinical Fellowship Year in Cy-Fair ISD. I worked in a Private Practice for several years as a Speech Language Pathologist and started my own private practice in 1997. With a passion for learning I completed the 80 hour course by Neuhaus for teaching individuals how to read, write and spell in 1995. Having the background of a Speech-Language Pathologist, in conjunction with the training by Neuhaus Education Center, has provided my students exceptional benefits in the areas of reading, handwriting, spelling, speech, as well as expressive language skills.
Undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders from The University of Texas in Austin.
Master's in Communication Disorders from The University of Houston
Certified in the 80 hour course by Neuhaus Education Center- Orton Gillingham Approach for Reading, Writing & Spelling.
Certfied in Scientific Spelling- Neuhaus Education Center.

I collaborate with the child's parent and teacher to determine the area(s) of concern, as well as the child's current abilities. I will order supplies that coincide with the child's level of reading. I am a firm believer in early intervention, as well as building a child's self confidence.
