About Erin
My greatest passion in life is teaching. I am currently working as a fifth grade special education teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education as well as a Master's degree in Literacy. I have experience teaching children how to learn to read. I love working with kids. I am flexible and can work around your schedule.
I love seeing how happy and excited students get when they improve academically. It gives them a boost of confidence.
I have always enjoyed working with kids, so I decided to get my teaching degree. I started my career by teaching preschool and then transitioned to teaching in public schools.
I got my Bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education. I got my Master's degree in literacy and cognition, so I am skilled at helping students improve their reading and writing skills.

I like to get to know the student first. I will find out their strengths, weaknesses, interests, etc. Tailoring activities towards the student's interests helps to keep them engaged and makes learning more fun. Next I like to see where their skill levels are. I will typically administer various assessments to see what we need to work on.
I have worked with students of all academic levels and backgrounds throughout my teaching career. As a special education teacher, I have worked with students of various disabilities and academic and behavioral needs. I am currently teaching in Queens, NY, so I am gaining experience working with English Language Learners.
