About Bonni
As shown consistently through research, academic success for a child can provide the foundation for lifelong success by promoting cognitive abilities, self-confidence, and a feeling of having a place in the world. My successful and rewarding teaching and tutoring career includes working with children of diverse ages, needs, and backgrounds. I have worked with high-risk children and special-needs children, and have tutored adults in GED testing and young adults in college curriculum. I have a creative, positive-minded, and strength-based tutoring method that allows students to learn through individual-based or group-based curriculum design, a design based on each student's learning style and strengths. When I am not tutoring or working in accounting, I am writing and recording music, painting, or laughing at the antics of my two dogs and three cats.

Inspiration! Creativity! Our brains generate abundant energy and stress levels in our bodies decrease when we create. My teaching method and techniques explore a world of learning through art, music and poetry. As a musician, singer-songwriter and artist, I learned that artistic creativity exists within all subjects. The subjects I tutor for elementary school aged children include foundational mathematics, reading, and English. Sessions for high-schoolers include algebra and test preparation. Music lives within mathematical structures, while critical thinking shows itself through imagination. Whether it is math, reading, English or test preparation, we will begin our journey using the arts. Following in the footsteps of my grandmother and award-winning mother, I teach children using a strengths-based ideology that fosters self-confidence as the curriculum is customized for each child's individual strengths and learning style. My experience includes working with the program "Second Step," an anti-bullying program that teaches through role-playing and empathy-building. I was part of an all-subject after-school tutoring program that raised student test scores by 10% in a Title I Elementary school in Huntsville, Alabama that used the program to successfully address issues of violence while raising academic success rates. The method of tutoring and teaching I use promotes knowledge retention and lower levels of stress in the learning process, and all subjects are presented in creative ways that inspire curiosity and increase a child's knowledge base through subject understanding.
