Depending on their ability levels:
Beginners: I teach mostly basics including physical postures and understand the purpose of it. Hand positions on the keyboard. Then I would test the by playing a game such as my students impersonate as a teacher and myself as a students so my student (as a teacher) should teach me my posture.
Continued Students: I'd give them a placement test to see where can I begin to continue with their further experience(s).
