About Rebekah
Piano has been a central aspect of my life for my entire life. At five, my mother was my first teacher! We practiced every day for thirty minutes as part of our daily routine, and I will always be grateful for the process and dedication. As members of an overseas military family, my mother always made sure we had a piano teacher wherever we lived. Thus, I have broad experience with different kinds of teachers and took note of what I liked and didn’t like in a piano teacher. I took formal lessons until I graduated from the advanced lessons at age seventeen, and have played both formally and informally ever since. My piano teachers were excellent and helped me connect to the experience of the music, rather than simply learning to play the music. I have taught beginner piano for the last ten years to students ranging in ages six to seventeen at a beginner and intermediate level.
Thanks to my own teachers, I believe the practice and application of music adds a dimension to an individual's life experiences that proves invaluable throughout their lives. Whether a student continues with that musical practice or not, I find that the diligence they learn through learning the piano proves vital in every aspect of their lives! Music lessons should heighten a student’s appreciation for diligence and resilience while practicing creativity and self-development.
With a Masters of Education and ten years of teaching experience, I am able to implement expert strategies in education and learning to support my students of all abilities, but especially beginners looking to break into piano for enjoyment and developing their skills. I hope to meet you!
