About Charlotte

I taught public school strings for many years in Tucson, Phoenix and Scottsdale. I teach individual private lessons with cello my specialty. I completed the Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance at the University of Arizona with a minor in Music Education. I teach beginning to intermediate level violin and piano to all ages. I have coached chamber music for strings and prepared students for regional and All State groups. My background includes university level teaching. I played cello professionally in orchestras in California, Denver, Colorado, Mexico, Tennessee and Arizona. i soloed with orchestra in Tucson and performed professionally with the String Sounds quartet in Phoenix, Sedona, Fountain Hills and Nevada.

I take each individual student into account and taylor curriculum for learning levels and interests. I am retired from the public school teaching.

I enjoy that students take pride in their progress and accomplishment through the months and years especially in public performances.

My mother taught private music lessons and gave me a piano student when I was in junior college. My interest in teaching has grown through the years.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in music education.We surveyed playing other orchestra instruments such as the clarinet. I completed a Master of Music degree in cello performance with secondary study in piano. I completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in cello performance with a minor in Music Education that included additional study of the violin and survey of world instruments.

About the lesson

I request the student to show me what music they have studied in the past and to demonstrate the level they are performing at. If they are beginning I ask about interests in music and any special subject areas. I also ask if they have studied music in school.

I teach all ages of students from young children to adults. I taught high school students for several years; I presently teach a high school violinist and a beginner elementary school level cellist. I recently taught elementary school pianists who have moved.

Young beginners should practice 20 minutes a day. Try to practice six days a week; one day off is fine. More advanced students should increase the daily minutes. Consistent practice brings accomplishment.

I recently performed cello duets in a public concert in Scottsdale, Arizona with a young lady I have played with in an orchestra for the past five years. I was pleased by the reaction and appreciation given by individual members of the audience.

Details

I charge 25 dollars for a half hour lesson if the student lives nearby. Longer distances can be 30 to 35 dollars a lesson. An hour lesson would cost more.
