About Kennesha

I incorporate the arts and sciences together and adjust my teaching to the student's ability, yet challenging to overcome being mediocre. I believe that reading music helps everyone grow and stretch their mind in seeing music creativity and analytically. I have seen this proven inadvertently with children and their school studies. Since the learning style each student varies, I adjust to the student, keeping the goal of the student and parent (if applicable). At the end of the day, I teach with the understanding that "Practice Makes Permanent."

I have enjoyed teaching children and adults up to mid-intermediate level and assisting those who play by ear in reading charts. I incorporate computer activities when needed to reinforce learning.

I enjoy teaching children and adults of all ages the fundamentals of music. I love when I can help connect music to everyday life while being progressive in achieving milestones (reading, technique, fingering). I have taught music for over 15 years. I have also done missionary work in Kenya in piano, woodwinds, voice, and dance and have helped orphans and school children explore the art with very little equipment. I LOVE when a student has an AH-HA moment and are able to overcome musical challenges.

I started teaching while I was in my senior year in college. I was a computer information technology major would just LOVE to stay in the music building. I was asked by another student about teaching and I decided to take the job. (I had already been playing the piano for over 10 years). From there, I taught at a local church through their music outreach program for almost 10 years.

About the lesson

I have worked with children as younger as 5 years old up to 70+. I have taught in small group classes for children, teens, and adults. There were a few times that I worked with autistic children.
