About Tim
Piano Teacher willing to travel to student homes with many years of experience to engage beginners to advanced pianists in primarily the classics, using a method course for beginners and teaching into the advanced levels, using theory, ear training, sight reading and scales/chords/arpeggios for proper technique. Two lender keyboards are available to begin lessons. Being a member of the East Valley chapter of Arizona Music Teachers Association affords opportunities for students to play in recitals, duet ensemble festivals and more other than the studio recital. My students have placed in state competitions and festivals in Washington State.
My specialty is young beginners, but teens and transfer students will be given specialized instruction, using the method course or books assigned by the previous instructor. We catch up on needed music termonology, and the student learns pieces they enjoy from the vast musical repertoire.
College level courses in music history and appreciation, have attended many seminars on piano pedogogy. I have been a member of a music teaching organization in Washington State and currently with the Arizona East Valley chapter. I keep current in the profession reading journals and articles on teaching and better piano performance, and practice the great classics, jazz, popular styles on a regular basis.

For a total beginner, with no experience on either a keyboard or piano, a method course is used, consisting of theory, ear training and a lesson book to teach the fundamentals of musical terms, note names and phrasing. For adults, an adult book is utilized which gives the same information but in a more mature format. For students who have had some music knowledge/performance, a course of the classical literature is begun at the level of the student up to level ten if they take lessons into high school or college.

Details
I charge $20 per half hour, $25 per 45 minutes and $30 per hour for single students. Multi student discount of $2.00 off the lesson for more than one student in a family.
