About VERA
Currently I'm living in Brazil, teaching internationally online for over a year.
West Somerville is one of the places I've lived in MA, where a friend still lives.
International teachers are accepted on the site, but need to choose a US Zip Code.
I've been teaching as a multi-instrument teacher since 2003 when lived in the Boston area long-term, and later in Brazil.
I teach Violin, Viola, Cello (degree), Piano (first instrument), and Voice. Conservatory and other Early singing and Baroque cello experience.
Long-term university level studies on all these instruments and voice.
- Specialized in the use of the Alexander Technique, refinement and fixing of techniques.
- Have successfully taught live from age 4 through university students and elderly amateurs. Have been teaching children and adults online.
- Experience with Suzuki, modern and traditional methods.
- Individual or group instruction of Harmony, b-c and/or modern chord-symbols.
I love teaching, this is a natural ability.

My experience with music is really broad, so I work on expanding the students minds to see from different point of views, understanding the big picture, which is like life.
It's not about being a good player, this should be a consequence of their vision. Like a bird singing in a forest.
That was in 2003 when I was in Boston and was hired to teach violin at a conservatory (My degree is in Cello, but had previously learned and played violin and viola at a previous Bachelors).
I upgraded to multi-instrument teaching at the conservatory, music schools and my music-studios.
Formed small groups, string-quartet, and a beginners' orchestra at a home-studio.
Accompanied them on the piano for our studio recitals, and offered mini-workshops on theory, history and ear-training.

I work a lot on weight of the arm(s), direction, almost like an architecture of movements, instinctively using the laws of Physics.
On the piano a live student typically leaves the first lesson sight-reading. Online piano lessons need a bit more work on the camera and screen-sharing set-up. As long as that is set, we start looking into a shared score and positioning on the first lesson.
Voice student start with breathing, humming, and head, mouth, tongue positioning, for resonance, moving from note to note, intervals.
The Alexander Technique and chi-kung influence movements, positioning.
4 and 5 year old geniuses, violin and cello
6-12, an amazing group
Teens thru university students and other young adults, and older amaterus
Individual and group lessons (siblings, friends, band mates, etc)
If you want to know more about music, other than your instrument, and want to become more of a person, look for someone who explores, who expands, who creates, and is at the same time, detailist, refined on the teaching of your instrument.
