Learn how to Know, what you don't Know...

My Story:

School and I never got along, it was something I decided to do after working dead end jobs and realized I needed a piece of paper from a University to better my chances in the workforce.

I googled "what is the hardest major" and nursing came up, and 2nd was Mechanical Engineering. As a non-traditional student (not 18. I was 22) I signed up at a Community College and learned from the bottom up all of the classes I slept through in grade school. It wasn't until I got to Umass that I fell in love with my major and was able to use all of the Math tools I spent time learning on applied applications.

I tell you this because I hated Math prior to being an Undergrad, and I realized later I didn't hate, I was frustrated because I didn't know where to start or I felt I was cheating by asking for extra help.

Gaining my degree in Mechanical Engineering was the hardest and most beneficial thing I have done to grasp what this world has to offer.

Study habits and mental motivation aside, it taught me how to critically think, empowering me to know at least the first steps into solving any problem. Even if the solution at the time is "I am not sure at the moment, I will have to do my own research."

Let's get excited about learning the tools we have to use and get us some science in our lives!!!

It brings me great joy to empower others to a new level of understanding, even if it's as simple as a memory trick or breaking down a seemingly complicated Math word problem into the most agreed upon language in the world, Numbers.

Prior to working, I volunteered as a camp counselor at my hometowns camp, my first job was at a Toy Store, always been a kid at heart. Afterwards I was a lifeguard in high school and received my WSI (water safety instructor) and taught swim classes and private lessons for kids as well as being a camp counselor.

I have privately tutored friends and family as a hobby throughout my life and I have a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and 1 class away from a minor in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

About the lesson

Depending on the subject, I always aim to make things fun, and to find common ground. Starting with their least favorite subject, right up to what might be their passion.

Then, every session we will start with the least favorite part, so we can end on a good note.
