About Andrew

My name is Andrew Chen, I am going to be a sophomore at Pennsylvania State University in the fall. I am in the Smeal College of Business currently studying economics and finance.

Every student, of every background and ability, needs help sometimes. I want to offer my advice and experiences to whoever, whenever. Since I can remember I have always had tutoring as a part of my life, both private and through tutoring services such as Kumon. With a number of different tutoring experiences, I have come to realize what learning strategies have worked for me in the past. Having said this, I do understand that all students learn differently and at different paces, and with so many tutoring experiences, I will be able to make adjustments to my teaching style in order to accommodate the different learning needs of your student. I have been tutoring for about two years now, on and off mainly with family friends and just people I know. I am great with all kids and will ensure that they not only learn the material but enjoy the process that goes along with it. With being a high achieving student throughout my whole life, I want to help the student not only achieve their school goals through a strong academic record but also fulfill their own personal goals if they want to go above and beyond what is required of them in the classroom.

Highschool:

GPA - 4.24

AP - Psychology, Calculus, World History, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Spanish, Literature, Language, Biology.

Athletics:

I was a fencer throughout my time in high school, was a 5-time national medalist, ranked in the top 3 in the state of Georgia for my last three years of high school, and was ranked in the top 20 nationally as well.

College:

GPA - 3.53

Major - Finance

Minor - Economics

That is just a little bit about myself, but I would love to have the opportunity to meet you, as well as work with your student.

I enjoy tutoring because I love to work with younger kids. One of the main reasons personally is that is I think that having all my tutors growing up, allowed me to stay one step ahead of all of my peers. I could work at my own pace, and that allowed me to not just get stuck at a classroom pace, or if the classroom pace is too fast, I can slow down with tutoring in order to really retain the knowledge of difficult concepts. With math continuously tieing old concepts with new ones and building off of the previous unit, it is important that you have a solid foundation of all subjects.
