About Shawnte
I have been tutoring for several years and have had experience tutoring students of various levels up to and including the collegiate level. I specialize in the sciences and Mathematics, but I have also had experience tutoring other subjects such as English, Literature, History, Spanish and Bible. I have had years of experience working in science labs where I have applied many of the scientific and mathematic concepts that I teach. I am very patient and enjoy taking the time to tailor the academic experience to each of my students in a way that allows them to get the most out of their education. This has allowed me to see great results and provide excellent resources to the students as well as the parents.

When I am working with a new student, I will assess their current academic level in the subject(s) that I will be helping them with. Especially with mathematics, this often involves a process in which I will begin assessing their knowledge of some of the basics and work my way up to increasingly challenging material until I find an area where the student is struggling. This allows me to ensure that the student has a firm foundational understanding of the material. For example, although the student may know how to do certain things in Trigonometry, if I start the assessment here, then the fact that they are struggling with some basic fractional addition may not present itself until later. This method provides the most efficient usage of time and resources.
