About NATASHA

I struggled with mathematics as a child. While going back to college I had decided I wanted to teach. But originally, I was going to teach Chemistry. I was scared to go as deep as I had to into mathematics with a Chemistry degree. However, as I struggled and went deeper into Algebra and Calculus, I discovered I liked it. I started to look at the problems as puzzles and started to enjoy the process of finding the answer to a question. This led me to changing my bachelor’s degree to Mathematics and getting certified to teach 7-12 Texas mathematics. I have now been teaching Algebra and Geometry to middle school students. I love teaching them and bringing my passion and love for mathematics. I relate to students who struggle to my own struggles in understanding mathematics. Many students struggle because they lack a foundation in arithmetic. This is an easy fix and once that grounding base is cemented, we can build frame in the higher level maths.

I fell in love with mathematics.  I used to struggle and I wanted to bring that understanding to my students when I teach.  That I understand their fears and I can help relieve them and move past that fear.



I have a bachelors degree in mathematics and a texas certification 7-12 in mathematics.

I need to know what subject they are currently in.  If it's secondary education, it helps to know what their major test scores were.  It helps to know what subject their school is currently working on and what the student is not understanding.  Are they understanding the content but have test anxiety?  They should have examples of homework or tests that they have done so I can see mistakes they have or not made.



I have worked with a variety of students from normal every day students, students with special needs both gifted and needing additional support.



Look for a teacher who can readily understand what you are missing in your understanding.  Someone who is willing and patient with you when you may struggle more than others depending on your foundation.



A recent event that I am fond is that I received a bunch of thank you letters from my students over thanksgiving break.  The students told me how thankful they were that I was teaching them Algebra and Geometry.



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What can I tell my tutor or teacher that I am not understanding.  What about the problem do I not get?  Is it how to read the question?  Is it where do I start?  Is it everything about the problem or just a portion of solving it?
