About Joan

I find myself to be very approachable, personable and understanding. I also am not afraid to tell you if I am unable to help with something and will help you find resources rather than just wasting your money and time. I believe I can help students become more successful in their courses and provide advice to those students who are trying to attend post-graduate school as I am currently in my second year of a 4 year dental program.

I really enjoy helping people and aiding people in the understanding of the material that they have been struggling with. I personally have struggled in a few of my classes and when the lightbulb in my head finally went off, I felt a physical sense of relief and relaxation. I want to help my students feel this relief when finally understanding or succeeding in something that previously gave them trouble.

I have tutored friends at school and helped with homework trouble. I have also studied with classmates from my own classes to help solidify both mine and their comfort with the material of study.

I am a current 2nd year dental student in FL. I graduated college in 2020 with a BS in Biochemistry with the distinction of manga cum laude.

About the lesson

I usually like to start by having the student explaining to me their course work or what they are currently working on, along with their strengths and weaknesses academically. We go over notes, class examples, practice problems, and more.

I have tutored fellow pre-dental students for our Dental Admissions Test. I have tutored middle and high school students, as well as fellow college students of my same concentration.

Find someone that you feel comfortable around and that is easy to talk to and understand. If you do not feel comfortable with them, you will more than likely not learn as much as if you were, as you will be less likely to be truthful about your understanding of the material with someone you are nervous talking to or being around.

Have I applied myself to the best of my ability? Am I participating to the best of my ability and using the resources available to me/recommended by my teacher? What specific areas am I struggling with?
