About Justine

I have been offering tutoring services for almost a decade to people all ages, from elementary school kids to adults looking for a new perspective or seeking an advantage. I've tutored kids learning basic math, teens preparing for the SATs, and young incarcerated adults preparing for their GEDs.

When it comes to education, I believe that the best approach is to help you build the skills you need to one day make a tutor obsolete. Everyone should be able to feel comfortable learning a new skill.

With a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vassar College and three years working at an online magazine, I have extensive editing experience -- in fact, I enjoy it!

I also know what employers and hiring teams what from their candidates. Having trouble getting past initial job interviews? I'm here to teach you a few simple techniques and practice with you until you feel completely comfortable walking into that room.

I love helping people learn to feel confident and enjoy their work. People will learn things more quickly the more excited they are and the more they believe they can accomplish their goals.

I believe that everyone can learn anything once they find out the way their brain best absorbs and retains material. I'm here to help figure that out!

I have been tutoring for over a decade. Most recently, I spent time tutoring incarcerated young men who were studying for their Regents Exams, writing college essays, or just getting down basic grammar. I've worked with a variety of people in elementry school through college.

About the lesson

If we are working on improving grades or studying for a test, I like to get a baseline of where we are, and understand the student's goals. If they have anything particularly anxiety-inducing to work on, I want to know. On the flip-side, I want to know what you do enjoy! Even if it's a totally different subject. I think that's an important part on figuring out how to improve.
