About Alexis
My name is Alexis and I am a future History and Social Studies Hight School teacher and` attend Appalachian State University which is home to one of the best education departments in the United States. My goal is to support students in understanding concepts and develop skills to think critically about ideas and issues, and how they connect to the present. My number one aim is to ensure that there is no shame in not knowing, that learning is a process that never truly ends. I have tutored all subjects for elementary schools, however, I am not limited to tutoring elementary students.
What I enjoy about teaching is helping the student understand broad concepts and seeing them grow confident in their work.
Growing up in a public school system that was extremely underfunded, I did not have the best learning experience. This motivated me to take on a career in education so that I could provide students with an educational experience that makes learning fun and will hopefully impact their lives in a meaningful way.
I am in the education department at Appalachian State University and have tutored students and have developed educational skills that meet all styles of learning while being in the program.

I like to get an understanding of what interests students the most. History and Social Studies is more than just remembering dates, wars, and big powerful men.
